ADATA chairman Chen Li-Pai led a partner delegation to Thailand to explore building an AI compute center in the country, working with group AI compute company KONST. The delegation met government bodies and key institutions and surveyed Chon Buri, a core area of Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), to assess investment opportunities for AI compute and data center facilities and to expand further into Southeast Asia.

Key points:

  • Why Thailand. Chen said the Thailand 4.0 policy and the EEC align with ADATA's strategy to grow its global AI application markets. Chon Buri offers an established industrial cluster, port logistics, infrastructure, and policy support suited to large data centers and AI compute.
  • The market driver. Generative AI and agentic AI are driving sustained global demand for high-performance computing, storage, and memory, making AI compute centers a core part of digital transformation. Southeast Asia's stable power supply, land costs, policy support, and ESG conditions are turning the region into a new hub for AI compute.
  • The KONST tie. In March this year ADATA led a US$3 million Series A round in KONST. KONST began in large-scale computing facilities and mining operations, then shifted into building AI compute centers, deploying GPU clusters, compute rental, and AI cloud platform services, with expansion across Japan, Malaysia, and Southeast Asia and plans for multiple AI compute centers by 2027.
  • The combination. Analysts expect KONST to be a key partner in ADATA's overseas AI compute buildout, pairing ADATA's strengths in DRAM, SSD, and enterprise storage with KONST's AI compute platform and data center build-and-operate capability.
  • On the agenda. Beyond meetings with Thailand's parliament and government, the delegation discussed AI compute center construction, talent development, supply chain cooperation, and sustainability.

Horizon AI is the enterprise AI adoption partner within the KONST ecosystem, turning the group's strengths in compute and infrastructure into AI that enterprises can put to work — from assessment and custom development to system integration and operations. Horizon AI is a subsidiary of KONST, a Taiwanese technology group.
